Take-off is a series of images taken at different airports around Europe.
Joakim is fascinated with the impermanence of the airport. Everyone is on their way to another place, some place new. The atmosphere is filled with mixed feelings of excitement, fear, joy and boredom, all represented by a vast number of different people. Like miniature societies. The theme of the project originates from another series of Joakim Blomquists’: “Promenade”. “Promenade is a portrait of a place, Promenade des Anglais, where tourists and everyday life collides." If you look closely at the previous French images you will detect traces of airplanes in almost every one of them.
The passion for airplanes and airports are also visual. Joakim finds the clear graphics of the airstrips very appealing and aesthetic.
