This experience was just overwhelming. When I came back, met my wife and kids, I burst into tears. The people, running, the landscape, running in the landscape, the robberies, driving, warmth, friendliness, chaos, Addis Ababa and so much more. But some moments stick out more than others. We drove approximately ten hours south of Addis Ababa and arrived at our destination late one afternoon. A village in the middle of the jungle and it was getting late and dark but we headed out running anyway. You could hear the hyenas sing in their caves but our guide, Nati (approximatly 12 years old), and some other boys, some much younger, lead the way on small dirt paths. The most amazing run in pitch dark with headlights. And Nati, he didn’t have any shoes. None of them did.
This trip was called a CoffeeRun. We basically ran and drank coffee, travelled and took tons of pics. Everything was arranged by running shoemaker Icebug, coffee roaster Kafferäven (the Coffeefox) and PO-Hansson from Global relations. Big thanks! Thank you Coach, Fekru, Tamirat and the group as well. This was the most amazing experience and, yes, I will come along next time. Kenya perhaps?
